Sorry that this has taken a while.  But now it’s moving.  Hopefully we will start generating some traffic and getting people involved!

First thing to notice: on the side there are a list of blogs about economics that you should be reading.  They are the best collection of current writings on economics on the web.  Enjoy.

Second!  To get things rolling (and try and generate some interest) here is an interesting discussion of economics and problems with its attempts to be a predictive science.  It’s an interestng read and I think it makes a number of excellent points.

For those interested in this didscussion I would recomment the Rhetoric of Economics, an excellent book by an economist that analyzes the discourse of economics.  It is an excellent deconstruction of the kinds of arguments made in economics and the implicit assumptions upon which those arguments rest.

It’s my opinion that economics has much to be proud of in that it is definitely the most rigorous of the social sciences, but it should stop this fetishizing of the natural sciences and realize that it is dealing with infinitely more complex systems.
